A reader has contacted La Voz to denounce the "bad management" that the Department of Sports of the Arrecife City Council is carrying out. According to the neighbor, "the state of the sports facilities is worse than ever, the attention to clubs and entities is null and non-existent and the responsible councilor does not even appear in the area nor does he answer messages and calls."
In addition, the citizen criticizes that the council has been closed for more than a week. "Such is the abandonment that after having almost the entire department on leave due to their ways of working, the council located in Titerroy has been closed for more than a week and, although this situation in the last month is more than usual, until last week it was opened by one of the advisors of the mayor and councilor Eli Merino," he says.
Likewise, the reader accuses the Councilor for Sports, the area technician and his advisors of "traveling and sharing photos at the WTM in London, Gastrofusión in Madrid or the Gran Canaria Sports Fair while closing the municipal office since last Tuesday."
"Beyond the concern as a citizen of who is bearing the costs of those desires to see the world of those responsible, we, the clubs of Arrecife, are concerned that as of November 15 there is not even a provisional proposal for the award of sports subsidies for the 2023-2024 season, taking more delay than ever in these procedures and without personnel in the area," he declares.
"We are seriously concerned that sports subsidies will be lost for expenses that the clubs have already advanced in some cases through loans, in others with personal contributions or owing money to our suppliers," says the neighbor.
The reader asks that this problem be solved because "the situation is desperate", since it directly affects the athletes and the clubs to which they belong.
