World champion Hecher Sosa returned to Lanzarote directly to speak on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero last Friday morning, during an interview on the Polideportivo program. The leader of the Fight Club Rush, held in Sweden, confessed that he is digesting the success after becoming the winner. "I'm on cloud nine trying to assimilate everything," he added on the air.
The Arrecife athlete arrived at the Radio Lanzarote fishbowl after a vacation with his partner and daughter. "I'm tired, I haven't stopped since the competition ended," he revealed. He also pointed out the need to have some time off with his family and friends. "I'm still very happy with the people who support me," he assured listeners.
Sosa recalled the warm welcome he received from his loved ones when he landed last Thursday at Lanzarote Airport. "I wasn't expecting it, it was a pleasant surprise." His close circle was ready at the airport exit to receive him with applause and hugs. This is how the athlete experienced the moment. "It was an immense joy, I was euphoric to see my family and friends."
A long-awaited meeting for everyone that Sosa will always remember. "I will never forget it," he pointed out on the air. What he will also never forget is the triumph he achieved in the Fight Club Rush. A belt that marks a before and after in his sports career. "Everything is the result of what I have been sowing with sacrifice for so long," he revealed very proudly.
He thanks his family for the support they have given him to achieve this goal, while he is already looking at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). "My parents and my partner help me to combine my career." To all this we must add his team, "I have managed to add a circle that makes everything go perfectly, I fight but there are eight or nine people working behind."
The belt in scoop on the radio
A promise is a promise. The athlete carries the phrase as a banner and he showed it during the interview, a meeting in which he brought the belt to show it to the public. "I have fulfilled the promise I made to bring it to the radio," Sosa confessed.
He wanted to openly express what the belt means to him. "It is the proof of the real work I have done." A reward for dedicating himself body and soul to the sport. "Fighting is what I love and enjoy, which makes me put a lot of effort into each training session," he added.
A day-to-day training that always leads him to want to advance in his career and be in constant movement. "I am an athlete all year round, I am already training and thinking about the next goal," he revealed about his plans after becoming a winner.
He has already begun to visualize fulfilling his first dream, something that will not be long in coming. "Now my main goal is to sign the contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship' (UFC)," he made clear. Although he stressed that he wants to continue making his wishes come true. "I am not satisfied with anything, I want more challenges."
Since he won in Sweden, he clarified that he was trying to focus on the present as much as possible. "I have to wait for things to come and enjoy the moment," he concluded.
The Arrecife City Council receives the athlete
After his victory in the Fight Club Rush, the athlete was received by the Arrecife City Council last weekend. The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Tourism, Eli Merino, met with Sosa in the first official reception on his native island, in the Canary Islands and Spain, after his sporting triumph in Sweden.
In addition, he received a plaque in honor of his career and his recent success, a recognition that will accompany him during the next years of his professional career.
