The participation of Orientación Marítima in the Women's First National League is up in the air. The few economic aids that the entity receives could cause the disappearance of the women's section of the club. The La Destila team is waiting to hold several meetings and the final decision will be made in the next few hours. The pioneering women's soccer team on the island of Lanzarote is experiencing its worst moments.
On Monday afternoon, the preseason training of the Orientación Marítima women's team was scheduled to begin. Juan Pedro Perdomo, technical manager of the team, had summoned the players to start preparing for the new season. These trainings have begun with the uncertainty of knowing what will happen with the women's team.
Javier Curbelo, director responsible for the Marítima women's team, sees the situation as very complicated and stated that "as of today it is very difficult for Orientación Marítima to compete in the Women's First National League".
The next few hours are vital for the future of the Orientación Marítima women's team. The club's board will hold a meeting to decide the future of the team and the other meeting will be held by the players' families. The parents want to get fully involved in the project and will not allow the team to disappear. To this end, they have offered the possibility of being the ones to look for commercial houses and different forms of financing to face the campaign.
