The CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen youth academy continues to bear fruit over the years. This time it was the turn of Carla, from the youth team, as well as the children's and cadet teams of the Tiñosero club, to make history for handball in the Canary Islands. The children's match to savor the podium had several alternatives on the scoreboard. The Valencians started strong in the match (3-4, min. 10) but the Canarians were able to recover and managed to tie the score in the middle of the first half, reaching the break with a certain advantage (15-9). The second half did not change the inertia and the players led by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Santana from Tiños finally managed to take the bronze and climb onto the podium of the Spanish Championship.
The top scorers for the Canary Islands team were Martina Lemes and Amaia Barrachina from Tiños with five goals each, with the latter's sister, Ingrid Barrachina, scoring 3 goals.
Nine children's players from CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen have finished third in Spain with the Canary Islands national team: Ingrid and Amaia Barrachina, Amelia Alexia and Najara Ángeles Gabaldón, Neysa Curbelo, Leyre González, Martina Lemes, Adriana Reyes and Daniela De Marco together with the coaches Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Santana and his assistant, Andrea Rodríguez.
On the other hand, the Tiñosero cadets involved in the Canary Islands national team achieved victory in the final against the Castilla y León national team by the minimum (29-30) in the Garganes Pavilion in Altea (Alicante). The Tiñoseros who are proclaimed champions of the Cesa Copa de España Cadet Women's are Zaida Armas, Dalia Pérez, Dana Calero and Nayra Gil, the latter contributing with six goals to leave the Canary Islands as Champion of Spain of Cadet Cup.
The Canary Islands youth team was less fortunate, with Carla Rodríguez from Tiños, finishing in sixth place after losing in the last match (33-28) against the Asturias national team.
In short, a more than remarkable result for the Tiñosero youth academy in this Spanish Championship, which makes it clear once again that the lower categories of CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen enjoy excellent health and a better future.
