The President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, and the General Director of Sports, José Francisco Pérez, received Alejandro Hernández, a referee from the island of Lanzarote who has just been named the best referee of the season by the National Technical Committee among the referees of the Spanish First Division, on Wednesday morning.
The regional Executive wanted to congratulate the international referee for his good season in the highest category of Spanish football and thanked him for "taking the name of the Canary Islands and representing us in each match".
Hernandez obtained an average score of 9.58 in this campaign, in which he directed very important matches in the national competitive calendar. With this score, the Canary Islander has completed his fifth campaign in the First Division, in which, among other matches, he directed the last Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona. In this way, he surpasses the Madrid native Carlos del Cerro Grande (9.54) and the Extremaduran Jesús Gil Manzano (9.46), who complete the podium of elite referees.
