After a long absence from rallies, Rubén Curbelo returns this weekend to compete in the XXXIV Orvecame Isla de Lanzarote Rally. The last participation of the young driver from Lanzarote dates back to April in the Villa de Santa Brígida Rally. Curbelo will try to fight for the top positions in the standings and aspires to repeat the success of 2010 when he took the absolute victory in the Isla de Lanzarote Rally.
Rubén Curbelo will be accompanied by Samuel Vega in the co-pilot tasks and at the controls of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. This will be the second rally that Curbelo faces this season and despite the inactivity, the driver from Lanzarote wants to demonstrate that he is still among the fastest drivers in the Canary Islands.
One of the objectives that Rubén Curbelo and Samuel Vega have set is to fight for the victory in group N+ and try to be as close as possible to the top three classified. In 2010 he achieved victory in the Isla de Lanzarote Rally and last season the points obtained in the Lanzarote event earned him the Promotion Championship of the Las Palmas Automobile Federation.
Rubén Curbelo wanted to thank "all those friends who have helped me to be in this rally" and assured that "three days before the race I saw it as almost impossible, but thanks to them we will be on the starting line". "After so long it will be quite difficult to maintain a high pace of competition, but we will try," explained the young driver from Lanzarote". And he added that he is very eager to "enjoy some sections full of novelties and to meet again with those fans who are always supporting me in each section".
The participation of Rubén Curbelo and Samuel Vega with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX in the Orvecame Isla de Lanzarote Rally is thanks to the collaboration of Hamburguesería Cuco, Pizzería Ca´César, Bar Restaurante Sociedad Fomento de Tao and Malabito ? Ropa y Deportes Urbanos.
