Renault Juan Toledo Lanzarote San José Obrero closes the year 2018 with a valuable draw against BM Tejina Tenerife. They had to show their mettle to tie a match that they were losing by three goals with six minutes left until the end, achieving a valuable point against one of the "big boys" of the national category.

The Lanzarote team, with a great defense, were able to stop the Tenerife team, especially nullifying Alba Spugnini, a reference in attack for BM Tejina Tenerife, during some phases of the game.

The equality was maximum during the development of the first part of the match, with an exchange of goals and the defenses prevailing over the attacks. Fanny Monrós scored the first goals for San José Obrero and Alba Spugnini did it for BM Tejina. The visitors took the initiative on the scoreboard, although the difference was never greater than one goal.

Fanny Monrós connected with África Rodríguez, and the pivot scored to put Renault Juan Toledo San José Obrero ahead on the scoreboard for the first time (9-8). The coach of BM Tejina, Juan Antonio Calero, requested a time-out to stop the good dynamics of the locals' game.

In this first part, the 5:1 defense posed by San José Obrero was key, with Diana Martín in the advanced position, stifling the circulation of the rival's ball and preventing Alba Spugnini from being comfortable in attack. Nabila Harchaouin scored and gave the locals the maximum difference, reaching the break of the match with the score of 12 to 10 in favor of Renault Juan Toledo San José Obrero.

BM Tejina Tenerife reacted at the beginning of the second half, starting the period with a 0-3 partial in favor of the Tenerife team, which forced David Betancort to request a time-out. After the instructions from the bench, Vesi Nenkova, a player who was returning after a few days of absence due to injury, and Nabila Harchaouin, returned the initiative on the scoreboard to Renault Juan Toledo San José Obrero.

The locals came to have a three-goal lead in this second half, having to request the BM Tejina coach a time-out (16-14). The reaction of the visitors was immediate, with Alba Spugnini taking the reins of her team's attack, scoring two long-distance goals. Ariadna Molina and Tatiana Barrera completed the 0-4 partial to return the initiative to their team.

With six minutes left until the end of the match, BM Tejina Tenerife acquired a three-goal advantage, the maximum of the match, and it seemed that the match was escaping Renault Juan Toledo San José Obrero (18-21). The time-out requested by David Betancort was key, achieving the reaction of his players and that they had clearer ideas in attack.

Nabila from the wing and a penetration by Esther de Miguel put the tables on the scoreboard (21-21). BM Tejina Tenerife scored in the penultimate attack play, with a goal from Úrsula González from the right wing, with only 30 seconds remaining until the end. Esther de Miguel forced a seven-meter throw with a penetration, with Vesi Nenkova transforming the penalty and establishing the final draw.

With the score of 22 to 22, the match came to an end, with Renault Juan Toledo San José Obrero adding a valuable draw against BM Tejina Tenerife. The Lanzarote team finishes the year in seventh place in the standings with 15 points. The competition resumes for San José Obrero on January 12, visiting the court of Oviedo Balonmano Femenino.
