Unión Deportiva Lanzarote continues to recognize and honor its historical players, who thanks to their work have been forging the history of the rojillo team. Taking advantage of the break in the match against CD Tenerife "B", UD Lanzarote will honor all the members of the first squad in history, who began competing in the 1970/71 season.
During the break of the match that will face UD Lanzarote against CD Tenerife "B" on Sunday, corresponding to the 38th matchday of the Third Division, all the players and coaches who were part of the first team in the history of UD Lanzarote will jump onto the field. Players who will receive the applause of the fans who come to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote, will be received by the directors of UD Lanzarote in the center of the field and will be given a diploma in recognition of their efforts for the rojillo colors.
The first president of UD Lanzarote was Ginés Ramírez, accompanied by Alonso González as vice president. In 1970, Román Cabrera was entrusted with the preparation of a squad and Antonio Collar Monterrubio was the first coach of the team.
The first in the history of UD Lanzarote was composed of; Aparicio I, Canarito, Bielo, Chiche, Corujo, Dévora, Duque, Enrique, Ernesto, Esteban, Fausto, Felipe, Gilberto, Grimón I, Grimón II, Guelo, Julián, Leandro, Manolo Corujo, Mariano, Nano, Pepe, Silva, Tinino, Toni Arbelo and Juan Cruz. A team coached by Juan Collar, with Román Cabrera as second coach and Rojas as masseur.
Of all the members of the first squad in the history of UD Lanzarote, Manuel Corujo is the only deceased and the board of UD Lanzarote has extended an invitation to his relatives to attend this recognition that UD Lanzarote will make on Sunday.
With this act, UD Lanzarote wants to recognize the work done by the historical players of the club and that with their effort on the field led the club to the highest levels.
