The ninth edition of the César Manrique Children's Basketball Tournament, organized by Sands Beach Grubati, together with the Teguise City Council and the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, concluded.
If in the cadet tournament the club that took all the prizes was Magec Tías, this time it was Luther King from Tenerife who managed to stand in the women's final against Magec Tías and in the men's final against the host club, Sands Beach Grubati, winning both finals and the MVPs awards for both matches.
The women's final was controlled at all times by the Tenerife team. Magec Tías did not appear practically throughout the entire match, except for a moment of improvement in the second quarter, although it was of little use because at halftime the difference was already 14 to 22 for the visiting players. In the second half, the Tías club continued with the dynamic of little success in attack and weak defense, giving many facilities to the visitors, who comfortably won the match by winning 28 to 55.
For its part, the men's final was much more even at all times and although at halftime the Sands Beach Grubati managed to go to halftime with a favorable score of 31 to 26, this difference was due to a series of steals in defense and well-carried counterattacks that helped them finish the match ahead of their rival.
In the second half, Luther King from Tenerife managed to take advantage of a series of failures by the local team and with good inside play turned the game around, but without escaping on the scoreboard and leaving everything pending for the last quarter, where maximum equality reached the scoreboard again. Only 2 minutes before the conclusion, the Tenerife team achieved a rent of +4 that allowed them to control the match and finish it with a favorable score of 52 to 48.
The MVPs awards that are given to the best players of both finals also went to Luther King, with Eugenia Fernández and Antonio Milán being the new holders of said award.
