This weekend the Canary Islands Cup of the Laser 4.7 Class "Naviera Armas Trophy" was held, with the participation of 27 boats from the fleets of RCN Gran Canaria, RCN Tenerife, RCN Santa Cruz de La Palma and RCN Arrecife.
Throughout Saturday and Sunday, six races were held with three victories for Luciano García Lorenzo from Lanzarote, the rest of the victories were shared by María Mateo Ferragut and Luis Wagüemert Guerra, both from RCN de Gran Canaria; and Juan Pablo Betancort Fernández from Lanzarote.
Luciano García Lorenzo, with the three first places, managed to add a total of 11 points, completing his classification with a second and two sixth places, which earned him the title of champion of the Canary Islands Cup "Naviera Armas Trophy" in the organizing Club. The second place overall and first female went to María Mateo Ferragut from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, with Julio Jordán Bañón from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife coming in third.
In the women's category, after the winner María Ferragut, Margarita Iess Falcón, also from Gran Canaria, was classified and third was Nelly María González Rodríguez from Tenerife.
The sub 16 category was won by Javier Balaguer Núñez from Tenerife, followed by the sailors from RCN Gran Canaria, Luis Guerra Wangüemert and Luis Jiménez del Campo.
The top eight classified will represent the Canary Islands in the Laser 4.7 Spanish Cup to be held in Palma de Mallorca. They will be accompanied by another eight sailors from the Canary Islands Sailing Federation ranking.
