Youth football has also had its place in the sports agenda of the San Ginés 2011 festivities. The Agapito Reyes Viera facilities in Altavista hosted the Youth Football Tournament last Saturday, with the participation of the Lanzarote Selection and the Fuerteventura Selection, in the cadet and youth categories. The Lanzarote players were intractable and won both matches against the Majoreros.
The cadet category match opened the San Ginés 2011 Youth Football Tournament. The players called up by Lanzarote were: Alejandro Delgado Marrero, Marcial Álvarez Mohamed, Oscar Santana Viñoly, Sergio González Fajardo, Jair Alejandro Enriquez Ortiz, Juan Carlos Ramos Domínguez, Pedro Díaz Villaverde, Alejandro Expósito Cambrón, Cristian González Toledo, Tanausú Perdomo Cabrera, Miguel García Rodríguez, Nadjib Mengoud Montes, Adrián Barrera Toledo, Eduardo Benítez Ortega, Alejandro Cruz Espinosa, Nelson Traid Gadanha and José Luis Montes Martín
The Lanzarote Selection defeated the Fuerteventura Selection 2-1, thanks to the two goals scored by Pedro, a player from San Bartolomé CF. The goal of the Majoreros came in overtime and it was scored from the penalty spot.
At the conclusion of the cadet category match, the youth match began. The Lanzarote Youth Selection was made up of: Doramas Ortega Rodríguez, José Carlos Santana Merino, Alejandro Betancort Wilson, Nauzet Tavío Cedrés, Raúl Fernández Rodríguez, Hugo Hernández Márquez, Alejandro García Cabrera, Maikel Castro Marrero, Alfonso Gil Martín, David Cedrés Barreto, Giovanni Gaviria Genial, Moisés Callero Martín, Rayco Vega Castillo, José Manuel López de León, Aithami Hernández Delgado, Aitami Morales Cabrera and Daniel Gritón Brito.
Like the cadets, the Lanzarote Selection defeated the Fuerteventura Selection 3-2 and left the San Ginés 2011 Youth Football Tournament champion trophy in Lanzarote.
At the conclusion of the matches, the awards ceremony took place, with the presence of the Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, Francisca Toledo, and the delegate of the Lanzarote Island Football Delegation, José Antonio Valido, at the awards ceremony.
