The mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, was present last Saturday, December 13, at the inaugural gala of the Spain Ultra Cup Aml Sport HG 2015, a circuit that will include the Haría Extreme, which has already become one of the benchmark races within the national mountain race calendar, and which will take place on August 15, 2015, with a new 80-kilometer route for the ultra category.
The event, which took place at the Palau Robert in Barcelona, was attended by more than 70 people, including the secretary of the Education and Sports Commission of the Congress of Deputies, María de la O Ares Martínez-Fortún, the secretary of the Steering Committee of the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), Carlos García Prieto, and the director of the circuit, Carlos González.
Also attending were representatives of the eight races that make it up, the winners of the 2014 edition, elite runners such as Pau Bartoló, Xari Adrián, Víctor Bernat, Remi Queralt, Laia Díez or Djanina Freitag, media and the general public.
The gala culminated with the screening of the official spot of the circuit, a video full of feelings that shows the internal struggle that the athlete maintains during an ultra-distance race, and with the live performance of Salva Rambla, whose song Sigue Corriendo is causing a sensation and is already the new anthem of the event.
The Spain Ultra Cup, under the umbrella of the ITRA, brings together different races with a series of common values that guarantee a seal of quality, such as respect for the environment, equal treatment of runners, safety or guaranteed supplies throughout the race.
In this edition, the races that will be part of this select sporting event, along with the Haría Extreme, are The North Face Transgrancanaria, the Ultra Mallorca Serra de Tramuntana, the Penyagolosa Trails Sport HG, the Volta Cerdanya Ultra Fons Sport HG, the Gran Trail de Peñalara, the Ultra Sierra Nevada and the Ultra Trail Guara Somontano Sport HG.
The mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, highlighted what it means for this race to be part of the national elite of trail running, sharing the spotlight with the main events on the calendar of this sport, which attract the best runners, not only Spanish, but also from the rest of the world, "a great boost for the Haría Extreme and for the northern municipality itself and a clear recognition of the effort and work carried out by the Haría society, involved from the beginning with this exciting project".
