CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen continues to work on the preparation of its squad for the new season in the Women's Handball Silver Honor Division. Thus, after signing Chilean international Madeleine Cortez for the goal, the Tiñosero team has acquired two luxury reinforcements, Keyla Hernández and Vesi Nenkova.

Keyla Hernández Rodríguez is an 18-year-old conejera player who is almost 1.80 tall and usually plays as a left or right winger. She breathed handball at home since she was born, as she is the daughter of Nieves Rodríguez, a well-known handball player on the island, and although she started in sports practicing artistic gymnastics, she ended up in handball, going through both San José Obrero and CB Zonzamas. As a youth player, she played in Mislata (Valencia) and in her first senior year she wore the number twenty-eight in Elche (Alicante), where she was part of the CB Elche Mustang squad, a team in the middle of the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola standings, the women's Honor Division.

"Going up to the Honor Division with CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen would be very nice and we are going to fight to go up to the highest category, we all aspire to that. I would be very excited to go up with a conejero team with Puerto del Carmen to the highest category" and adds that "sport gives you values, for your day to day and I think I can contribute something to this team in its aspirations", declared Keyla Herández.

"Although she has played few minutes in attack, she has participated with the team in defense. With confidence she can contribute a lot in attack since she can play in several positions, both in the first line and as a winger. She is an intense and hardworking player. Due to her youth, she can be a great signing", considers the coach of the conejero team, Miguel Ángel Lemes.

Vesi Nenkova, a player with an average of six goals per game

As for Vesi (Veselka) Nenkova, she is a 29-year-old player born in Karlovo (Bulgaria), 1.81 meters tall and who usually plays in the first line or left winger. The young woman, who says that she started in the world of handball at the age of six in her native country due to family tradition, arrives on the conejera island after fifteen years playing in Vicar Almería and after ten years in Tenerife.

Nenkova states that CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen is a team that she has known for "many years". "I faced them in a championship in 2017 and they always leave a good image. Two years ago I already had options to come to Lanzarote but the moment has arrived now", said the Bulgarian player, who considers that the Tiñosero club "has been a very complete team for many years". "They have been playing together for a long time, which leads to a good dressing room. It is, in short, a team full of experience and with many options, last year they were one goal away from the promotion phase, a lot of handball, she added.

Vesi Nenkova is "recovering from a cruciate ligament injury in her right knee" but says that her doctor in Madrid has already given her "the ok". "And I am with my private trainer starting to run and get in good physical shape. I have October 12 as the date to return, if everything goes well I will miss four games and I will return with great enthusiasm to return the confidence that the club has placed in me", she pointed out.

For Miguel Ángel Lemes, Vesi Nenkova is "a proven player who is in a period of recovery". "If she recovers well, she will give us an outside shot, which we lack. In addition, she performs well in the center of the defense and is a good penalty shooter" and adds that "her career shows that, wherever she goes, she averages more than six goals per game. This will allow us to improve our offensive facet", considers the coach of the Tiñosero team.

CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will start the pre-season on August 5, the date chosen to start preparing for a new season in the Women's Handball Silver Honor Division in which it says it aspires "to everything" again.
