The island of Fuerteventura will host the third round of the season of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship next weekend. A test that will feature the participation of José Manuel Galán and Gustavo Tavío, being the only Lanzarote team that will travel to Majorera lands.
José Manuel Galán, a driver with experience in the Dakar, will compete in the third round of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship. Galán will have the help of Gustavo Tavío who will do the work of co-driver and who has extensive experience in co-driving tasks and in rallies. Isidro Viñoly will accompany the Lanzarote team in mechanical assistance.
Galán and Tavío will face the Baja Fuerteventura at the controls of a Nissan Patrol GR 4.8, a vehicle that has already been used in the Lisbon Dakar and in the Baja España Madrid Aragón, in the editions of 2007 and 2008. Therefore, the two competitors will not have to adapt to the vehicle, knowing each of the secrets of the same perfectly.
The Baja Fuerteventura will be held on May 22, 23 and 24 and is the third scoring event of the season of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship. In addition, it is the first time that a test of these characteristics is held in the Canary Islands.
On Friday, administrative and technical checks will be carried out, and a prologue stage will also be held, to whet the appetite for fans and competitors. The bulk of the rally will be held on Saturday with 300 kilometers, being a most varied route, with participants encountering all types of surfaces; fast, stony tracks, hills and they will even have the opportunity to test their skills behind the wheel in semi-desert sandy sections.
The Baja Fuerteventura will conclude on Sunday, May 24 with a 150-kilometer timed section. Fuerteventura will dress up to host the biggest rally show that takes place on land and where fans can enjoy a motor event that is expected to be spectacular.
