The Código Cero Snipe Trophy, a test included in the Canarian circuit of the class, held in Puerto Calero and organized by the Código Cero Sports Club, began on Friday.
The weather forecast was fulfilled, with three races being held on Friday, but, due to the absence of wind and after a long wait, the three on Saturday had to be canceled, leaving the final classification as it had concluded on the first day.
A total of 21 boats registered for the event, with the pair formed by Leonardo Armas and Miguel Bethencourt from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife winning the first of them, with Patricia Medina from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and Jesús González-Amaliach from the Real Club Marítimo de Santander coming in second. The third position was for Cerveza Nao, by Miguel Ángel Lasso Lorenzo and Tomás Fuentes, from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
The intensity of the wind decreased somewhat in the second race, although it was quite fast, like the first, with a very shifty wind that gave all participants opportunities to move into the leading positions. On this occasion, the first place went to Piccolo VII by Antonio Llabrés and Daniel Arozena from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, the second place to Matías Garcías and Félix Echevarría from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, with Penélope by Jorge Pérez and Airam Rodríguez, from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, coming in third.
The last race of the day would bring many movements again and, as the races on Saturday could not be held, it was the last of the trophy, but that would not be known until the next day, so tactics and markings did not exist for what was one more qualifying race. The winning duo of the third race was the Valencian team formed by José Luis Maldonado and Laura Morata from the EV T10 Sailing Club, followed by Leonardo Armas and Miguel Bethencourt, while Carlos de la Hoz and Yapci Reyes were third, all of them from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
The day ended on Friday with the leadership of Penélope by Jorge Pérez and Airam Rodriguez, from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, adding 12 points. The pair formed by Leonardo Armas and Miguel Bethencourt from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife had one more, while Cerveza Nao by Miguel Ángel Lasso and Tomás Fuentes was third, with 14 points.
The absence of wind on Saturday prevented the three scheduled races from taking place, with the race committee ending the event after waiting a reasonable time. The organization took the opportunity to bring forward the awards ceremony, taking advantage of the fact that everyone was there, with Carlos de la Hoz, president of the Snipe Class Canarias, being in charge of awarding the first three classified.
