The XXXVII Haría Climb was held this Sunday on the island of Lanzarote under the organization of the FALP and the collaboration of the City Council, a test belonging to the DISA Autonomous Championship of the Canary Islands Mountain, the Provincial Championship of Las Palmas and the Lanzarote island event.
The forecasts were almost perfectly fulfilled and once again both the Tenerife driver Enrique Cruz (Porsche 911) and the La Gomera driver José Manuel González (BRC) repeated their triumph in Haría, also being the fourth consecutive for the two followers of the regional mountain circuit.
In addition, the driver of the DISA-Copi Sport team lowered his own record by more than one second on the long ramp between Tabayesco and the Mirador de Los Helechos (8.5 kms.), leaving his best time of the day at 4.32.337, obtained in the last of the passes. A time that shows the superiority of this driver and the fair victory achieved, which makes him more of a leader in the DISA Autonomous Championship of the Canary Islands and also places him now as leader of the Provincial Championship of Las Palmas.
For his part, José Manuel Suárez continues in his impeccable line and with a time of 4.28.749 he clearly won against his only opponent, Julio Martínez (Speed Car), who was solving some problems to finish second and maintain the lead in the Provincial Mountain Championship of this category.
Enrique Cruz won in all three rounds, but in the second official round Modesto Martín made great progress and with his less evolved Porsche 911 he placed second 3.2 seconds behind the winner, while surpassing by more than nine seconds the third driver on the final podium of Haría, Antonio Suárez with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, who reaffirms his leadership within the Lanzarote Championship.
Already on another lower level came the fight for fourth place between more Lanzarote drivers, from which Juan Carlos Cabrera finally stood out and not only took this important position, but also the hegemony among the competitive Renault Megane present. In less than five seconds and in this order, Suso Lemes and Aníbal Machín were classified next, the latter first of the BP Promotion Trophy of the FALP, followed by the Honda Civic of Camilo González and the Clio Sport of Yeudiel Suárez. Ninth and winner of Group TA was the veteran Pedro Luzardo with the Renault 11 Turbo, closing the group of the top ten the Clio Williams of Francisco Rosales.
Thirty drivers achieved the classification in the race, with three retired due to breakdowns in their vehicles (Eduardo Robaina, Marcial Alvarez and Rayco Rodríguez), while numbers 22, 15 and 24 were excluded for not appearing in the final closed park with their cars.
The climb concluded with the presentation of trophies in Haría, which these days is celebrating its patron saint festivities of San Juan, where the climb is the most important sporting event.
