The Copa Gobierno de Canarias experienced the last day of the competition on Sunday morning, with the final held in the Pedro Padilla Pavilion of Gran Canaria, which pitted Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote against Balonmano Ingenio. The final between two of the contenders to play the promotion phase of the Men's First National League ended with a 23-goal tie, a result that allows Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote to be proclaimed champion of the current edition of the Copa Gobierno de Canarias.
The match was marked by equality, with Balonmano Ingenio taking the initiative on the scoreboard in the first minutes, although the difference was no more than one goal. Near the equator of the first half, San José Obrero took the lead for the first time, with young Joel Armas in charge of putting the 4 to 5 on the scoreboard.
From that moment on, the best minutes of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote were seen on the court, reaching a rent of three goals. The goals of Alexis Rodríguez, Anderson Caycedo and Rafa Robayna put the 5 to 8 on the scoreboard, having to request shortly after the Ingenio coach the first timeout of the match.
After the indications from the bench, Acoidán Martín scored for the Lanzarote team and increased the difference to four goals. A rent that Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote knew how to maintain in the minutes remaining until the break, reaching the end of the first 30 minutes of the match with the result of 8 to 12.
The Lanzarote team put land in the middle at the beginning of the second part, a period that began with a partial 1 to 4 for the visitors with the goals of Óscar Silva, Anderson Caycedo, Joel Armas and Carmelo Álvarez (9-16). The advantage was reduced with the passage of minutes, establishing Balonmano Ingenio the tie with seven minutes to go (20-20). Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, with goals from Adrián Ruiz and Acoidán Martín, regained the two-goal lead. The timeout requested by Carlos Herrera was decisive, scoring through Rafa Sánchez and Pablo Hernández to put the final 23 to 23.
The tie allows Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote to be proclaimed champion of the current edition of the Copa Gobierno de Canarias, being decisive to determine the final classification the results obtained in the two phases of the competition. After playing two new preparation matches this weekend, the team led by Iñaki Malumbres has two weeks ahead to prepare for the start of the competition in the Men's First National League.
