The coach of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife had warned throughout the week about the need to be intense during the 60 minutes of the match and not to have phases of disconnection that could cost them a disappointment. And that was exactly what did not happen in Saturday's match against Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava, developing a bad match in attack and rescuing a point on the horn against the team that occupied the last position in the standings.
The match started well for the interests of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife. Goals from Celia López, Melania Cabrera and Gema Trujillo made it 0-3. The Lanzarote team controlled the match, facing a Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava that was not successful in attack and only scored two goals in the first twenty minutes of the match.
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife lacked rhythm in their game in this first part and, above all, intensity to finish breaking the match. A 3-0 run in favor of the locals tied the score with three minutes left before the break, with Melania Cabrera scoring immediately afterwards to allow San José Obrero to go to the end of the first 30 minutes with a one-goal advantage.
The second half began with two powerful shots from the Croatian Petra Jersek, again putting the advantage in the three goals (7-10). The reaction of Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava was immediate, achieving a 3-0 run to put the tables back on the scoreboard.
The problems in attack of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife were evident during the development of the second half, missing many shots and some of them in clear counterattacks. A circumstance that Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava took advantage of to go two goals up with nine minutes left to the end.
Goals from Beatriz Masseu and Nabila de Ganzo tied the score with less than a minute to go. The defense of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife defended badly the last play, allowing Valentina Learreta to shoot. The Lanzarote team took it out quickly, with Gema Trujillo entering through the right wing to tie the score with four seconds left to the end.
With the score of 22 to 22 the end of the match arrived, adding CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife a point that allows them to increase the advantage with respect to the sixth classified. The women's team of San José Obrero will be close to a month without competing, returning to the competition on April 13 to visit Uneatlántico Pereda.
