CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote added the first two points of the season after winning in Catalan territory against Handbol Sant Quirze. The match was not easy for the team led by Patro Barambio and allows the batatero team to premiere in style in their journey in the new Division of Honor.
The locals started dominating the scoreboard through fast attacks and counterattacks. On the other hand, Barambio's girls presented themselves with much more calm in attack. Through long ball circulations, they managed to open the Catalan defense, but the Lanzarote team's shots did not find the goal.
Remei Prat's exclusion would give a little oxygen to a CB Zonzamas that loaded the attack finish on the right wing with the great appearances of Ingrid Roger and Gleinys Reyes to tie the game (6-6), and take the lead for the first time on the scoreboard with Danae Miranda's goal shortly after the first ten minutes of the match.
Both teams were imprecise, with the visitors especially being quite predictable with the ball, giving Handbol Sant Quirze options to exploit their greatest virtue, the counterattack.
It was a constant exchange of blows that lasted throughout the match with very small advantages on the scoreboard. Lucía Chacón would score 8-9 fifteen minutes into the match, the goal added to the several meritorious interventions of Susi Sánchez under the posts, allowed the Lanzarote team to obtain advantages on the scoreboard.
The inaccuracies of Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote prevented the team from distancing themselves on the scoreboard, the inaccuracies of the conejeras were taken advantage of by the Catalans who would achieve the tie again in the 22nd minute (12-12). The Catalans found in the outside shot the solution to unblock their actions in static attack, which allowed them to establish a 16-16 tie at halftime.
The visitors came out very strong, managing to obtain a three-goal advantage on the scoreboard (18-21) at the beginning of the second half. The match gradually turned into a lot of physical work, with very hard defenses that maintained few alterations on the scoreboard for more than five minutes.
Hanbol Sant Quirze improved in defense, showing a much firmer block and took advantage of the mistakes of CB Zonzamas in the opposite court for the rival to cut the distance on the scoreboard, encouraged by the local fans who saw the comeback possible.
However, CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote knew how to pause the match and maintain the intensity.
A recovery and the subsequent finish by Mary Sánchez would put the tie on the scoreboard (25-25). Immediately afterwards, Lucía Chacón provokes a penalty that the specialist Gleinys Reyes would be in charge of transforming, leaving a definitive 25-26 on the scoreboard with which the Lanzarote team managed to bring the victory.
In this way, CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote premieres with a victory on the opening day, despite suffering at times from that lack of rhythm in competition. The next day, which will take place next Saturday, October 8, Patro Barambio's girls will face Lobas Global Atac Oviedo at the Las Palmeras municipal at 8:00 p.m.
