One of the main characteristics of a civilized society is the capacity, more than necessary, to be able to live in a group and maintain a harmonious coexistence between the human beings that form part of any type of community.
We share public spaces and we must defend common interests in favor of a harmonious and peaceful way of life, also having as a fundamental basis solidarity between neighbors... but unfortunately, there are few who defend this model of society that is respectful of others. We must call these citizens "bad neighbors".
Let it serve as an example what happens on Pérez Galdós street in Valterra -Arrecife-, where the neighbors who do defend this idea of community have repeatedly denounced the occupation of abandoned houses, even collecting signatures that they have presented in the general registry of the city council of the capital.
These 'new and bad neighbors' have not been able to give value to private property and ignore, we believe deliberately, the discomfort that their actions cause to other people.
That is why from the Socialist Group of Lanzarote we remember that there are mechanisms to deal with this type of problems that affect the neighbors of this street in Valterra. From communicating the situation to the owners of the properties so that they block doors and windows, requesting more surveillance and control from the Local Police, even though it is notably scarce in our city, especially in the neighborhoods, or turning to the protection of justice and the tools offered by the law.
The institutions have the obligation to ensure the well-being of each and every one of the citizens and develop campaigns that set the limits to achieve, among all, a healthy neighborhood coexistence and respect common spaces... but above all they have the political, ethical and moral obligation to listen to and value the opinion of the neighbors and their concerns and worries
