The Yaiza City Council is launching its Summer Campaign for resident families who need to reconcile family and work life during school holidays. Thus, both the Department of Culture, jointly with the 'PFAE Anima Yaiza' program, and the Department of Sports, propose artistic, sports and leisure activities during the months of July and August, in the morning from Monday to Friday, in the towns of Uga and Playa Blanca.
For its part, the Department of Culture and the Training Program in Alternation with Employment 'PFAE Anima Yaiza', the proposal includes activities of plastic expression, craft workshops, sports activities,
traditional games, gymkhanas and musical and body expression activities for ages between 5 and 12 years, from July 1 to August 30, at the La Aurora cultural center, in Playa Blanca, and at the CEIP Uga. The schedule is from 8.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., from Monday to Friday except holidays.
The Councilor of the Area, Daniel Medina, warns that "places are limited and will be awarded in strict order of registration", and can be made from now until June 25 at the cultural centers of La Aurora or Uga on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In order to formalize the registration, it will be necessary to provide data and photograph of the minor, data of the mother, father or guardian, ID of the minor or Family Book, as well as health data or allergies that may be present. "We have about 70 places, it is free and this year will be taught by monitors of 'PFAE Anima Yaiza', explains Medina. "The objective is to favor the reconciliation of the families of the municipality, so we encourage them to take advantage of this proposal of leisure and fun so that the children can be active and enjoying the summer while their parents work", emphasizes the southern mayor.
As for the proposal of the Department of Sports, the activities will begin on July 10 and will run until August 30, taking place at the facilities of the CEO Playa Blanca by the company 'Move to Excellence'. Reserved for boys and girls between 6 and 12 years old, will include, in addition to sports activities, popular Canarian games, English, crafts, dance and gymkhanas, as well as health talks given by doctors, psychologists and other professionals in the area.
The schedules will be from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays, and prices range from 50 euros for registration for a single week to 245 euros, in case of requesting it for the entire camp (July and August). The Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, points out that "we continue to bet on sports activities during the summer season and, in this case, it is a private proposal that we have received for the realization of the summer camp, of which we finance a part with the aim of reducing costs and that does not involve much disbursement for the families of Yaiza".
