The clothing, the repertoire of songs, ranging from folías to isas and malagueñas, and the typical dances, with the novelty of the peasant Zaranda dance, turned the Canarian tradition into music last Saturday at the Tahíche Folk Festival.

The group in charge of opening the festival was highly applauded. The women and men of the Canarian popular music group, "Labradores de Lanzarote" who have been participating in pilgrimages and festivals for three years, consolidated the public's taste with a very Lanzarote repertoire.

Directly from Tenerife, the Escuela Municipal de Folclore of Tacoronte filled the stage with its 53 members. They delighted not only with their voice, with which they sang folías, seguidillas, saltonas and isas in the chicharrero style, but also with the dance.

The Guagime group, directed by Fefo Pérez, closed the event, accompanied by the Escuela de Baile Típicos, from Tahíche, led by Alexis Pereda. From the hand of this teacher and his dance group came the novelty of the gala with the peasant Zaranda. A Lanzarote dance framed in the task of sifting wheat and danced with zaranda, the basket used for these tasks.

The public that came to the Santiago el Mayor Sociocultural Center of Tahíche was dedicated throughout the event, which once again was presented by Francisco José Navarro, mentor of a night of popular tradition made musical culture.
