The show Menudos Timplistas brought the cultural program of the Casa-Museo del Timple de Teguise to a close, on a morning filled with emotion, music, and the future. At 12:00 PM on Sunday, the Santo Domingo Convent of Teguise was filled with fathers, mothers, siblings, grandparents, and friends who arrived on time to support the 40 participating children in this edition, hailing from five Music Schools, mostly students specializing in the timple.
The Municipal Music School of Tías, directed by Professor José Vicente Pérez; the Teguise Music School, under the direction of Alexis Lemes; the Tinajo Music Classroom, directed by Gabriel Cubas; the Toñin Corujo Music School in Arrecife, with Toñin Corujo himself at the helm; and, from Tenerife, the Orotava Music and Dance School, directed by Professor David Duque, participated.
The first time on stage for many children
The event began with welcoming words from the Commissioner of the Timple House-Museum, Benito Cabrera, the true driving force behind all the programming developed during this year 2025, who was accompanied by the Councilor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, Andoni Machín. Both agreed in highlighting the quality and enormous emotional value of this gathering, especially because it involved children who, in many cases, were stepping onto a stage for the first time, facing the attentive and proud gaze of their families with enthusiasm and nerves.
The audience was able to enjoy a varied repertoire, ranging from the most traditional Canarian folklore to more current pop songs, demonstrating not only the talent of the children but also the excellent pedagogical work of their teachers. Both the councilman and the commissioner congratulated each participant individually, especially valuing the effort and commitment of the families, fundamental pieces in this learning process.
The star number of the cultural programming
Menudos Timplistas has become the star number of the programming when December arrives. A day eagerly awaited by the little ones, some even confess that the night before they **barely managed to sleep** due to the excitement of what is to come. And no wonder; the stage, the applause, and the audience's affection leave a mark.
The councilor, the commissioner, and the organization insisted that events like this should continue to be promoted, because the musical future of Lanzarote beats within these children. And the applause, which did not stop being heard throughout the entire performance, long, warm, and sincere, corroborated this.
The closing was as emotional as the rest of the morning; congratulations, kisses, hugs, knowing smiles, and finally, the presentation to each teacher of the "Menudos Timplistas" poster, the traditional family photo, before each participant received a very sweet box to sweeten the Sunday afternoon.
A profoundly endearing act that, once again, honors the timple and those who keep it alive, and which brings the annual programming of the Casa-Museo del Timple de Teguise to a close, leaving the best taste in our mouths; that of illusion, music, and the future.
