The Department of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands has put out to tender the contracting of the execution of works to beautify green areas and public space on El Jablillo Avenue, in Costa Teguise. The announcement, which is published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), specifies a term of 9 months and a base bidding budget of 621,958.33 euros.
The money will be distributed in two annuities. Thus, in 2009, 50,000 euros will be granted to the project and in 2010 a total of 571,958.33 euros, according to a statement from this department.
The general director of Tourist Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Ledesma, has pointed out that "the objective is to improve the pavement, changing it to basalt stone from Lanzarote, the same stone that will be used in the pedestrian crossings". "In addition, a irrigation system, gardening, and decorative elements also made of natural stone will be placed", he announced.
Ledesma explained that the action is part of the Shock Plan for Tourist Areas launched by the Department of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, as has been done with the conditioning of Golf, Atalaya, Las Conchas streets and the access to Janubio Beach. "Its objective is to dynamize and beautify this tourist center so important for the Canary Islands", he indicated, referring to Costa Teguise.
