The Tías City Council will proceed in the coming days to replace lamps and lights, as well as install a flow regulator in Libertad and San Blas streets in Tías town, "as an energy saving measure for the municipality."

The project will involve an investment of 42,678.63 euros, of which 17,071.45 will come from municipal funds and the remaining amount (60 percent) from a subsidy granted by the Government of the Canary Islands.

According to the Councilor for Roads and Works, Antonio Betancort, specifically, 20 electronic ignition luminaires with a 60-watt sodium lamp and ceramic burner will be installed, replacing the existing 150-watt ones.

Also, 21 250-watt lamps will be replaced by 150-watt lamps and a flow regulator will be installed. All this will mean an estimated annual saving of almost 55,000 kilowatt hours.
