The Tías Town Council will put out to tender again the works that are still pending on Princesa Ico street, in Puerto del Carmen. The Consistory has adopted this decision after agreeing to terminate the existing contract with the company Ingemont, the company awarded the works, as it did not comply with the three-month execution period stipulated in the project's specifications. This same company is the one that started the works on the Arrecife maritime avenue, where it also failed to meet the deadlines and the contract was eventually terminated.

From the Tías Town Council they explain that "given the breach by the awarding company to complete the work, and after receiving the mandatory technical reports, the government group has made the most appropriate decision to ensure that this important improvement work is completed in a timely manner." The municipal government also plans to hold a meeting with the residents and those affected by the works on this road to explain the situation.

The renovation works began in September and had a budget of 454,107 euros and an execution period of three months. According to the Consistory, the execution of this work was divided into five different phases, precisely to prevent residents from being affected if a situation like the current one occurred. The awarding company has not only failed to meet the deadlines, "but has also requested an extension of one more month that has also expired." For these reasons, the Town Council decided to notify the company of "the stoppage of the works."

Process

The next step is to initiate a contract termination file and, subsequently, begin a new tender to execute the works that are still pending from the original project. The work in question is part of the second Plan for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of the Tourist Competitiveness of Puerto del Carmen, promoted with the aim of "providing public spaces with better and more modern infrastructures, after many years of complete neglect."
