The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the Councilor for Urban Planning, Ulpiano Calero, recently received the Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, to follow up on the maintenance work on the island's roads located in the municipality.

Among the numerous roads that are pending improvement, is the road that connects Conil and La Geria, whose works will resume shortly. In addition, the drafting projects for the resurfacing of the roads between Conil and Masdache and between Masdache and La Vegueta were discussed in detail.

Next week the resurfacing works between Puerto del Carmen and Puerto Calero will begin. In addition, the status of the procedure for the expansion of the LZ40 road, a key project to improve mobility in the area, was analyzed.

During the meeting, a follow-up was also carried out on the 2023 and 2024 Cooperation Plan, addressing the importance of maintaining the edge of the roads and the execution of works financed through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN). In this sense, the construction of a warehouse for the storage of composting was highlighted, which will contribute to the sustainable management of waste on the island.

Another point discussed was the collaboration between both administrations in the Tourism Sustainability Plan, which contemplates the construction of a Diving Center in the area of La Barrilla beach. Measures were also proposed to improve mobility in the streets of Puerto del Carmen, with urban intervention projects that will allow more efficient and safe circulation for pedestrians and drivers.

The Tías City Council requested the reception of the work on the Hoya Limpia road, which has already been resurfaced, and announced that it will request the drafting of new projects for the conditioning of the La Vega-Masdache, Peña del Asiento and El Puerto roads. These actions are part of the municipal strategy to improve the road network and ensure greater safety and comfort for users.

From the consistory, "the commitment to continue working in close collaboration with the Cabildo de Lanzarote to promote projects that result in the improvement of the municipality's road infrastructure, benefiting both residents and visitors to the island" is reaffirmed.
