Since this Tuesday, the Lanzarote Water Consortium has already put into operation the new distribution network that supplies drinking water to more than a dozen residents of Cervantes and César Manrique streets in the municipality of San Bartolomé.

The Minister of Water of the Cabildo, Domingo Cejas, the manager of the Lanzarote Water Consortium, Fernando Fernández, and water technicians from the Consortium itself were supervising the works last week, which culminated within the planned period of one week.

“We have fulfilled the commitment we made to the residents and their more than fair demands, and we have addressed the solution to the problem as quickly as possible, given that the rupture of the old pipe and the water losses were generating humidity in the walls and floors of their houses”, according to the Minister of Water of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Domingo Cejas”.

The work has consisted of the installation of approximately 100 meters of PE63PN16 pipe in a new supply network, transferred to the asphalt area of public easement, to replace the damaged network that passed next to the plots of the houses and was causing repeated leaks and damages to the residents of those streets as a result of the successive breakdowns and losses that had been occurring.

“Seeing the precarious situation of the existing pipe, which had already been regularly repeating breakdowns, and the eventuality that a new repair would not solve the problem definitively, the Consortium urgently determined the contracting of this work that will solve the problems for the residents of these streets of San Bartolomé once and for all, according to the manager of the Consortium, Fernando Fernández.

The works, awarded by the Lanzarote Water Consortium to the company Sccatmeca Transportes y Excavaciones, for an amount close to 18,000 euros, have lasted one week, which was the term established by the Consortium in the specifications of the award.
