The traditional sticking of posters has kicked off the electoral campaign that will lead to the local and regional elections on May 26. The different formations that are running in the elections carried out symbolic poster stickings, mostly at their headquarters, to, after midnight, flood the streets with posters.

Up to fourteen parties will compete this time in the elections to the Cabildo, compared to the eleven that did so in the 2015 elections. Specifically, CC, PSOE, Ciudadanos, Lanzarote Avanza, Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos, Somos-Nueva Canarias, IU, Vox, Unidos por Lanzarote, Fuerza Vecinal Lanzarote, Todos por Lanzarote, Ahora Canarias and Contigo Somos Democracia will fight to have representation in the island's first institution.

Fourteen formations will also compete for the 25 councilor seats of the Arrecife City Council. In this case, the candidacy of the Socialist Group for Lanzarote is added to the aforementioned parties, while that of Contigo Somos Democracia disappears.

In the case of Haría, there are ten parties running in the May 26 elections compared to six that did so in 2015, while in Tinajo, seven formations are running compared to the four that ran four years ago. In San Bartolomé, eight parties will fight to have representation in the City Council, the same number as in the last elections, while in the elections to the Teguise City Council, nine parties are running compared to the seven in 2015; in Tías and Yaiza, 10 are running, one more than in the previous elections.

Regarding the elections to Parliament, there are eleven parties that have registered candidacies to the Parliament of the Canary Islands for the Lanzarote electoral district, specifically PSOE, PP, Podemos, CC, Ciudadanos, Nueva Canarias, Voz, Unidos por Lanzarote, Izquierda Unida, Ahora Canarias and Contigo Somos Democracia.
