The strike planned by the workers of the Tourist Centers to request the reinstatement of Wilfredo Toribio may not finally take place, as Héctor Noda, president of the Works Council, announced before the microphones of Radio Lanzarote. Wilfredo Toribio was fired for uttering insults to the members of the Board of Directors, but there is a final judgment that declares the dismissal to be unfair.
The reason why the strike may not take place is due to the lack of unity of the workers. And it is that, as Noda explained, there is a group of employees who, although "minority", have collected signatures not to go on strike. "This means that the company opens the centers and if you go on strike and it is not effective, it is useless," said the president of the Works Council.
Thus, from the Works Council, as Noda pointed out, they are considering "not going on strike." However, to do so, a new assembly of workers will be convened, which must make a decision. "We as a Works Council would also be skipping a mandate that the assembly has given us, so I think the most logical thing is to now convene a new assembly."
Héctor Noda also pointed out that he has the hope that, after the departure of the PP government, and the recovery by CC of the Tourism area, Wilfredo can be reinstated. "We know that he can be reinstated and that even if they have deposited the money in the Court, they can go back, because Wilfredo has not yet collected that money. And a letter of reinstatement can be made," said Noda, who assured that "in the first meeting" they have with the new delegate of the area, that is what will be requested.
