"It is a cultural, academic and university activity outside the classrooms," explained José Regidor, rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), who also assured that "the professors are going to try to make the courses as attractive as possible." For his part, Eduardo Doménech, rector of the University of La Laguna, highlighted the "success" of the past edition, which had 262 students enrolled.
This summer's program has been chosen taking into account the requests of students from past editions, as explained by José Betancort, head of the University department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. In addition to three workshops, thirteen courses will be taught with a large practical component, which will address general topics such as nature, psychology or science, and others more related to Lanzarote, especially with the heritage and landscape of the Island.
The registration period will open on June 9, and the website of the University of Summer of Lanzarote will offer all the necessary information. The academic fees are 40 euros for students, unemployed and retired, and 50 euros for the rest of the population. Places will be awarded in strict order of registration.
