The PSOE senator for the Canary Islands, Domingo Fuentes Curbelo, has demanded that the Spanish Government allocate a budget for the dredging of Los Clicos and the repair of the access road to El Charco. The motion, which was registered a year ago, will be debated next Monday. The initiative proposes the use of the project prepared by the Ministry of the Environment, which has all the necessary permits and reports for its execution.
Domingo Fuentes Curbelo recalled that a year has already passed since the current senator for Lanzarote, Óscar Luzardo (PP), announced the imminent intervention in this lagoon. "However, nothing has been done. We are concerned that the file will expire and the entire administrative procedure will have to be restarted, while the Charco continues to reduce its size," warned the senator.
Although the work has not been included in the General State Budgets, Fuentes Curbelo believes that a credit modification of one million euros "would allow both the dredging of the lagoon and the reconstruction of the access to the crater."

Change in the Hydrocarbons Law
On the other hand, Domingo Fuentes has announced that he will support on Monday the motion presented by the senator for the Balearic Islands, Francesc Antich, which urges the Spanish Government to modify the Hydrocarbons Law, with the aim of "limiting its most deregulated aspects with special attention to environmental issues."
The text, which initially referred exclusively to the Mediterranean, has been modified to affect all territories of the Spanish State and prohibit prospecting and testing tasks in protected spaces, tourist territories and areas with fishing resources.
