The socialist group of Tías has proposed a total of seven amendments to the municipal budget for the year 2012 with which, according to its spokesperson, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, "the figures of the accounts are not significantly altered, but it does represent a change in priorities."

The PSOE prioritizes the implementation of active employment policies in its proposal and, to this end, redistributes money from items that, in its opinion, are "unnecessary", increasing the budget allocated to the Southern Association by some 94,000 euros.

"The Southern Association has been an important instrument for promoting various agreements both with the Canarian employment service and with the INEM and other organizations. In current times, employment must be the number one objective for any government and this is not reflected in the budget," Cruz Saavedra points out.

The socialists also propose changes in the section allocated to Tourism, for which they demand an item of 100,000 euros. "Taking into account that the sector is the engine of our economy and development, it is not reasonable to cut spending on tourism promotion," warns the socialist councilor.

Within the priorities set by the PSOE, an investment increase of 60,000 is demanded for sports, understanding that it is an essential segment in the training of the youngest. "The results are in sight not only for the number of children, young people or adults who practice sports but as a comprehensive strategy in the prevention of social risks."

With respect to the Plan for Improvement and Adaptation of Public Roads, it is requested that 100,000 euros be allocated since, for the socialists, the cut planned by the government group "would cause a notable deterioration in the conservation and maintenance of streets and roads, with serious consequences for residents and tourists."

In the document, it is requested to recover 40,000 euros in Education aimed at awards and scholarships. For the PSOE, it is essential to bet on the promotion of students with aid and scholarships that reward effort and indicate that with the new ordinance "More resources are needed to cover new beneficiaries."

Finally, it seeks to adjust personnel expenses "cutting superfluous expenses such as those destined for the self-propaganda of the government and directing 70,000 euros to the maintenance of the Pluvial Network."

In short, the socialists ask the PP for "real accounts, without cuts in matters such as Tourism, Education, Sports, Roads and Works or Employment, especially because they are necessary to cover all those demands of the citizens."
