The PSOE begins a new political course proposing a series of initiatives with a view "to the improvement of Teguise", according to Marcos Bergaz, and demanding from Oswaldo Betancort "the pertinent explanations that he withholds from the town of Teguise and the Lanzarote public opinion."
"In a proactive manner, we will raise a motion that allows small but ambitious actions that improve mobility where public services and the commercial area of Tahiche are concentrated," says Bergaz.
The councilor refers to the traffic problems in three roundabouts in the town of Tahiche that are insufficiently signposted - painted with white lines on the ground that makes them difficult to see - “that are waiting for a definitive resolution”. "The normal thing is that there is some type of raised structure that facilitates the identification of the driver and respect for it," he adds.
"In fact, the town halls are in the process of eliminating this type of roundabout, replacing them with others with a minimum height that facilitates the circulation of heavy vehicles," adds the socialist spokesman.
“To alleviate the deficit of investments in the infrastructures of the public services of Tahiche, which it is worth reminding the municipal government that they are the ones that improve the quality of life of the citizens; we are committed to the reorganization of intersections and the renovation and adaptation of sidewalks with a view to improving the accessibility, mobility and safety of pedestrians and drivers in this area of the municipality,” he adds.
Picnic area in Costa Teguise and trees for a "friendlier" Teguise
The socialist team from Teguise also assures that the citizens of Costa Teguise "have been waiting too long since the Playa Bastián picnic areas closed.”
"In this sense, we encourage the municipal government to create a large common space that serves as a meeting place for residents, young people, the elderly and family groups from Costa Teguise," declares Marcos Bergaz.
"Regarding the best possible area to concentrate this picnic area, we correspond to the neighborhood desire for suitability, due to its centrality, spaciousness and use of integrated resources such as the skatepark, the plot located on Calle de Los Crotos, adjacent to the Avenida de Las Palmeras of the Costa Teguise nucleus," he explains.
Therefore, the Socialist Group urges the Teguise government "to prepare a feasibility study and project that houses a picnic area in Costa Teguise equipped with a recreational area equipped for barbecues, bathrooms, tables, trash cans and shaded seating in a landscaped space and completely adapted to the regulations for the enjoyment of residents and tourists".
The "range of initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the municipality", he says, "will be complemented by the positive proposal to implement a tree plan for Teguise that takes advantage of the empty flowerbeds and tree pits in order to create friendlier spaces, encouraging the educational community, senior associations and residents in general to participate in the planting by 'sponsoring' a specimen, to strengthen firmer ties with the green areas of the municipality."
