The PSOE of Lanzarote inaugurated its new headquarters this Saturday, October 8, in an act in which the general secretary of the party on the island, María Dolores Corujo, and the secretary of Organization of the PSOE of the Canary Islands, Nira Fierro, spoke. This spacious and diaphanous space also houses the local headquarters of the Socialist Party in Arrecife and is located at Calle Juan Negrín, 158, in Arrecife, in the Titerroy neighborhood.
The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, referred to the “strength and unity with which the party starts the pre-election campaign in order to re-edit and improve the results of 2019”. María Dolores Corujo praised “the policies of progress and service to the majority of the people that the PSOE develops, fulfilling commitments and achieving new social conquests”.
“Improve and dignify people's lives”
The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote evoked the figure and political stature of Enrique Pérez Parrilla, “an example of a socialist and a reference”, and whose name presides over the party's Training School. She also had a heartfelt memory for Alexis Tejera, who gives his name to a Room in whose entrance appears his famous phrase “Steady course, comrades”. The new Casa del Pueblo has a space for the Agustín Torres Library.
For her part, the secretary of Organization of the PSOE of the Canary Islands, Nira Fierro, said that in the Casas del Pueblo “we sit down to reflect on how to improve and dignify people's lives or how to make the island more sustainable, because that is the reason for our party's existence”. Nira Fierro assured that the Canary Islands “are better than three years ago thanks to the policies of the Government of the Canary Islands, with Ángel Víctor Torres at the head, and thanks to the measures of the Government of Spain, with Pedro Sánchez at the head”.
The Casas del Pueblo have among their purposes to develop an informative and formative task among the members, becoming a meeting place for organic life. Likewise, they are open to serve the citizens and, in the specific case of the new headquarters, the senator, the national deputy and the regional parliamentarians will personally receive the demands of the population. Finally, the party leadership is requesting budgets to guarantee one hundred percent accessibility to the headquarters.
