The PSOE of Arrecife denounced this Wednesday that the sports facilities of the capital are "falling to pieces".

“It is incomprehensible that in the 21st century our boys and girls are forced to change in changing rooms that do not meet the minimum health guarantees. This situation is a clear example of the neglect that sport suffers in our city under the management of the absent councilor, Eli Merino, who seems more interested in spending millions of euros on parties through tourism and commerce, neglecting the basic needs of our sports facilities”. This is how the councilman and deputy spokesman for the Socialist Group in the Arrecife City Council, Roy González, who was responsible for the Sports area in the past term, has positioned himself.

The Socialist Group refers to the "deplorable" state of the sports facilities of the Argana municipal soccer field, the José Díaz Contreras municipal soccer field and the Maneje Sociocultural Center, which present "serious deficiencies and need for maintenance" due to, according to the PSOE, "the total abandonment of the government group".

“While Yonathan de León squanders millions of euros on parties, Arrecife's sports facilities are falling to pieces. From the PSOE of Arrecife we demand that Elisabeth Merino put aside the organization of parties for a while and focus on her responsibility in the Department of Sports. It is urgent that you address the deplorable conditions of our facilities and take measures to guarantee adequate and safe spaces for sports practice”, he adds.

Finally, González denounces the "progressive dismantling" of the Department of Sports, "since Yonathan de León is mayor." “Currently the area has only one technical manager because two of the three technicians in the area are on leave. It is time to prioritize the real needs in sports matters”, he concludes.
