The spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Dolores Corujo, has conveyed this Wednesday all the support of the PSOE to the workers of the Emergency Department of the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, who have agreed to go on strike "in the face of the collapse of the service due to lack of personnel".

Corujo recalls "the PSOE's commitment to transfer the claims of these professionals to the Parliament of the Canary Islands, who are forced to work with an evident work overload derived from the insufficient staffing". The spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group insists that "the lack of professionals in the Canary Islands' healthcare system, a fact as evident as it is repeatedly denied by Coalición Canaria, has especially bloody consequences in non-capital islands".

In the case of Lanzarote, Corujo considers that the situation of the emergency services is "extremely worrying", "with a collapse at certain times of the year that is even more difficult to understand if we consider that there is a fully equipped area with eight beds that remains closed due to the Management's refusal to increase the staff".

"The center's workers speak of twelve-hour shifts where they cannot stop to eat or rest", says the deputy, who stresses that the PSOE does not question "in the slightest" the word of these professionals, "something that the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García (CC), does in his permanent desire for conflict".

Corujo remarks that, "contrary to what CC should do, the health professionals "are the ones who are doing something useful and productive for healthcare on the island in the face of the chaos generated by CC" and values the "unquestionable commitment, capacity and vocation" of the group.
