The socialist group of Tinajo accuses the mayor, Jesús Machín, of failing to comply with the right of citizens to be informed of the municipal management, by "blocking" in plenary a socialist initiative for the dissemination on the local website of the plenary session minutes and the documents that make up the budget.
The socialist motion, rejected by CC, proposed the publication on the municipal website of the plenary session announcements (dates, times, agenda and approved minutes), as well as the municipal budget and the economic report, which is contemplated in the regulatory law of local finances, in order to bring the management of the administration closer to the residents, according to reports from the party.
"The mayor does not consider it necessary for this information to be available to citizens and he stated this in the plenary debate, but the worst part is that we have witnessed how he uses his power to guarantee the rejection of his group", explains the spokesperson for the PSOE, José Luis Bahillo.
The socialists regret that "the steamroller of the government group, led by the mayor, restricts the democratic exercise of public representatives and prevents transparency in the management of public affairs." "Without admitting debate, the mayor orders the rejection of the proposal using his majority in the corporation and alleging that the City Council does not have the personal means to prepare the periodic reports of the economic management", denounces Bahillo.
In this regard, the socialists highlight, "the Tinajo City Council has a personnel expense close to 50 percent of the budget but, according to the mayor, it is unable to allocate sufficient economic or human resources to comply with the Regulatory Law of Local Finances, in a timely manner".
