The spokesperson for the Popular Group, Angel Vázquez, has assured that the conflict of the Cueva de Los Verdes can only be resolved with an equitable and fair agreement for both parties since, otherwise, it will be subject to the political fluctuations that may occur in each of the two institutions.

According to the Popular Party, the agreement between the Cabildo and the City Council must be based on three basic principles, "the unity of management of all the Centers that make up the Network, the fee for exploitation that the council will receive, as well as who owns both the land and the building." "An aspect that is not expressly included in the draft and on which there are more than reasonable doubts in light of the jurisprudence that exists in this regard, based on the Law of Patrimony of Public Administrations," says Vázquez.

For the counselor, these three issues are "essential" to guarantee the solidity of the agreement and prevent the management of the Cueva de los Verdes or any other tourist center from being questioned again in the future due to mere partisan interests, as has been the case, by the Canarian Coalition".

"We cannot forget how this conflict arises and who is responsible for having strained this issue so much that it ended up in court", emphasizes Angel Vázquez. "The important thing now is that the solution is as satisfactory as possible for both parties, that the document respects and expressly includes the rights that the law recognizes to each institution and that the Cabildo continues to be the guarantor of the integral management of each and every one of the Tourist Centers".

Despite the fact that the Popular Party has requested the minutes of the meetings to know the criteria on which they have been working, the truth is that the government group has never wanted to provide this information, so "we do not know what was the starting point in the claims of the Mayor of Haria or the initial offer of the Cabildo".

Angel Vázquez is confident that the work carried out by the members of the negotiating committee during all these months will translate into an agreement that clearly contemplates the legal aspects regarding the ownership of the civil work and the economic amounts that could be established in a compensatory manner.
