The PP requests a plenary session "to force Alexis Tejera to clarify the procedure for the cycle lanes" of Playa Honda

He claims that the mayor "has been avoiding the criticisms of the PP councilors for months", who have even described the circuit as illegal, "as there is neither a municipal technical report nor an ordinance regulating its use"

"The refusal of Mayor Alexis Tejera to properly inform about the procedure for the implementation of the cycle lanes has led the councilors of the Popular Party, Lorenzo Reyes and Sergio Tejera, to request the holding of an extraordinary plenary session with the sole purpose of the government explaining and clarifying the doubts that exist about the creation of this bicycle circuit through the center of the town" of Playa Honda. This was announced in a statement by the party, which has requested that extraordinary session with the support of the Canarian Coalition and Ciudadanos.

The deputy spokesperson, Sergio Tejera, points out that the government "has been systematically avoiding any information that has been requested about the file and the procedure that has been followed, making it clear that the only criterion applied to remove bicycles from the maritime avenue and launch the cycle lanes is the voluntariness of the government group".

“There is no other reason or reason to base such a decision other than the mere whim of the mayor”, points out Sergio Tejera, who a few weeks ago already warned of the "illegality of the cycle lanes due to the absence of a technical or legal report that should accompany any municipal initiative". “The only thing that appears in the file is the external report on the different alternatives, but nothing else. The corresponding ordinance to regulate its use has not even been approved,” he warns.

“The cycle lanes are turning out to be nonsense, to the point that the road signs do not even comply with the General Traffic Regulations. In fact", -the councilor adds- "after our complaint, the city council proceeded to modify some of the signs”.

For the Populars, "the reported facts are quite serious, so they trust that the government group can clarify each and every one of the aspects about which doubts persist."
