A day after the death of the 6-year-old boy who remained in critical condition after the boat he was traveling in capsized in Lanzarote was known, the PP has shown its "regret" for this death. In the statement, which is the only one that has arrived so far from parties or institutions on the island, the popular ones regret that this "sad loss adds to the one already registered in this new migratory wave, in which another girl of similar age also died after the overturning of the inflatable boat in which they were traveling".

“This is undoubtedly the harshest, most dramatic and unfair side of the migratory phenomenon in the islands, which unfortunately continues to grow and worsen before everyone's eyes,” said the president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, who also recalled the tragedy that has been experienced with the death of another 18 people who were sailing towards Fuerteventura and among whom are seven women and a baby,

The leader of the popular ones considers that “the situation that is being experienced in the islands is “unsustainable” and in the case of Lanzarote, especially serious, due to the deficit of available resources. Astrid Pérez reproaches the State Government for being "incapable of seeing this reality, because in the face of what one does not want to see, it is impossible to even try to find solutions”, and criticizes that President Sánchez himself ignores the situation, stating that in the Canary Islands there is a “downward path” in the arrival of immigrants compared to last year and that “we must celebrate”.

“It is a real shame that there is nothing to celebrate when in four days more than 700 immigrants have arrived to the islands and when according to data from the Ministry of the Interior, between January and August the arrival has increased by almost 26%, which represents about 2,125 more people,” says Pérez.
