The Popular Party of Yaiza has presented a motion to the municipal plenary requesting that "the City Council initiate the necessary procedures for the creation and implementation of a tourist information point in the new maritime station of the Port of Playa Blanca."
For the municipal spokesperson of the PP and candidate for Mayor, Juan Monzón, “the progressive increase in passengers that the port registers annually supports the creation of this office from which tourists who visit us can obtain first-hand information on the tourist attractions of the municipality.” According to data from the shipping companies themselves, Playa Blanca closed the third quarter of the year with almost 750,000 passengers, which represents an increase of 10.78% compared to the previous year.
In their initiative, the Populars point out "the new reality of the port after the expansion works, improving the maneuverability of the ships and the operability of the shipping companies", which means that the possibility that Playa Blanca may be the venue for the docking of small-scale, boutique-type cruise ships is increasingly close. “This fact would give our tourist town and the entire municipality of Yaiza a very important qualitative leap for which we must also be working from the town hall itself,” Monzón emphasizes.
In this line, the PP considers that the creation of this information point in the port facilities is very necessary “because they are, after all, a gateway to the municipality. From the office, the newly arrived tourist would have all the necessary information to develop routes to visit the different points of landscape, ethnographic, wine, gastronomic or commercial interest in the municipality,” highlights the PP candidate.
“If from the point of view of accommodation, Playa Banca is a first-rate tourist destination, it is also our obligation as a public institution to contribute to promoting quality public services, infrastructures and equipment, both for residents and for those who visit us,” says Juan Monzón
