The councilors of the Popular Party in the Yaiza City Council, Juan Monzón and Guayo Rodríguez, have presented a motion to the plenary session in which they demand the construction of "safe access for pedestrians and also for people with reduced mobility" between Avenida de Femés and the bridge of the 25 homes in Playa Blanca with "in order to be able to transit comfortably"
In this regard, the popular representatives point out that "for several years, next to the pedestrian crossing located on Avenida de Femés closest to the school transport stop, the children and young people who use this transport, as well as many residents of the area, have improvised a passage between the landscaping that is used to access the area known as the ravine."
"This passage is not new to the City Council because at the end of June 2018 council workers installed a pedestrian bridge in the ravine that, according to reports at the time, was intended to make it easier for residents of the town center to cross to Avenida de Femés, and vice versa," says Juan Monzón.
However, he points out that while "it is true that the footbridge that was installed serves to shorten the way for schoolchildren and any other pedestrian who goes daily to the stop located near the ravine", "it is no less true that to get there you have to cross through a path in the middle of a garden area."
"This improvised passage is located next to electrical panels, on an embankment with a risk of landslides and without any type of security, where access with small children's cars is very difficult and impossible for people with reduced mobility." point out the PP councilors.
In this sense, they affirm that "the neighbors are demanding safe access" and consider that the City Council has the obligation to enable it "as soon as possible" because "it does not represent a great cost for the corporation because it could even do it with its own personnel or with a minor external contract."
