The Nueve Radio Televisión communication group presented this Monday its new advisory council, formed by relevant businessmen and executives based in the Canary Islands, who intend to relaunch the audiovisual project - radio and television - which has been in operation for eleven years.
"We want to guarantee our values, continue betting on plurality and ideological independence," summarized the president of Nueve RTV and president of the newly created advisory committee, Javier Puga, who appeared before journalists this Monday accompanied by a good part of the advisory cabinet.
The Canarian communication company, present in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, intends to continue the path started in May 1999, when it began broadcasting under the name of Canal 9 Las Arenas. "In a stage where television channels lack the most recognizable, we want to bring the audience closer to what is closest," detailed Puga, who estimates that the average 'share' of the channel is around two percent.
The founding members of the advisory committee, in addition to Javier Puga himself, who acts as president, are Pedro Agustín del Castillo (Binter Canarias), Juan José Flores Mederos (territorial director of Telefónica), José Antonio Newport (Planificaciones Mundiales group), Miguel Ángel Ramírez (Ralons), Juan Carlos Santiago (Félix Santiago Group), Andrés Vega (Dinosol Group) and José Abraham Domínguez (tourism sector).
Javier Puga pointed out that the new advisory council will inject around 800,000 euros into the economy of the audiovisual project during 2010, necessary to balance the accounts of the communication group, which, according to the president of the corporation, "presents the best data in its history", with advertising revenues close to two million euros.
"We have several upcoming challenges," announced the president of the group, who advocated for adaptation to new communication technologies within a period not exceeding two years. "We want to broadcast over the internet to the whole world and also connect our centers in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura through fiber optics so that the sending and receiving of data is faster," detailed Puga, while betting on own production to make a "more innovative and attractive" grid.
