The Unified Police Union (SUP) has denounced that the 112 emergency services dependent on the Government of the Canary Islands, "do not comply" with the protocols signed with the Ministry of the Interior when communicating the requests of citizens who call 112 demanding security or to report the commission of a criminal act.
In this sense, it explains in a statement that all matters related to the commission of crimes and misdemeanors are the "exclusive" competence of the National Police or the Civil Guard, and the actions of the autonomous and local police "have the character of collaborators".
The SUP argues its protest in the provisions of the Organic Law of Forces and Security Corps that includes the protocols "that were signed in their day between Jaime Mayor Oreja and Lorenzo Olarte Cullen", when they were Minister of the Interior and President of the Government of the Canary Islands respectively.
The union assures that it is "very common" that when a citizen calls 112 communicating the possible commission of a crime or a penal offense, those responsible for the rooms of Las Palmas and Tenerife that coordinate the emergency services, "delay and sometimes hide" the call from those responsible for the State Security Forces and Corps, "with the sole purpose of communicating it first to the Autonomous Police, in those places where they provide some service, as happens in Maspalomas or Playa de las Américas and, in other cases, where there is no Autonomous Police, they give priority to the Local Police".
Likewise, they affirm that in the majority of the services in which 112 processes the call, instead of 091, when the National Police patrol arrives, a unit of the Autonomous Police or the Local Police is already at the required place, "when the fact is of exclusive competence of the National Police because the law establishes it, producing a malicious delay by those responsible for 112".
The SUP accuses the Emergency Service of the Canary Islands Government of "disloyal treatment and snubbing the State Security Forces and Corps with intentionality and bad faith". In the same line, it adds that they "harm and hinder" the subsequent investigation of the facts.
The union representation of the National Police argues that this alleged behavior of 112 is done "with the intention of pleasing certain politicians even knowing the damage they can cause to citizens".
