The Ministry of Employment, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands has admitted the four appeals for reconsideration filed against the Order of December 23, 2008, which excluded the water company of Lanzarote, Inalsa, from the public tender for the allocation of power in the form of new wind farms.
The Ministry, according to Inalsa, "partially accepts the optional appeals for reconsideration" presented by the water company at the beginning of February. The company had been excluded from the tender due to the distance between the wind turbines, without its proposals being evaluated in the tender.
"The applications for wind farms (?) comply with the minimum distance between wind turbines within the same line established in article 25.2 of Decree 32/2006, and therefore, the admission of said applications is agreed," the Ministry now states.
In this way, the four applications submitted by Inalsa for the allocation of the 37 megawatts assigned to Lanzarote in the wind power tender will return to the technical evaluation committee, restarting the evaluation process. Three of the four wind farms awarded had been granted to the electricity supply entity Endesa Unelco.
SATISFACTION
"The management of Inalsa - the company points out - is optimistic about this resolution, as it benefits the entire island, making it possible for the benefits generated by these wind farms to remain in Lanzarote.
Inalsa's economic situation is disastrous. The company has recently entered a bankruptcy process and its debts exceed 38 million euros.
