The Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs has launched a tender, through the General Directorate of Water, for the first phase of the works of the project to expand the sanitation network of Playa Honda, in the municipality of San Bartolomé, with a base budget of 1,949,985 euros.
This action exclusively projects the construction of the rainwater collection network of Playa Honda, extending to the urban and industrial areas, on both sides of the Arrecife-Airport highway, in a separate system, in order to reduce the risk of flooding in this urban center.
Three types of action
The rainwater collection is projected with three types of collection. On the one hand, the connection at the discharge points of the upper roads of the urbanization of the industrial area of Playa Honda, to incorporate the flows from some natural channels that currently flow into the sea, crossing the urban center of Playa Honda. On the other hand, points for the collection of rainwater along the route of the projected rainwater network and, finally, flood relief from the existing sanitation network to the new projected rainwater network.
The entire network is projected buried in a trench and with manholes for its correct maintenance, similar to some rainwater branches that exist inside the urban area of Arrecife and other nuclei of Lanzarote.
