The traditional Wednesday and Thursday market in Arrecife will return to the Charco de San Ginés on September 3, also coinciding with the start of the cruise season. This was stated by the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce of the capital's Consistory, Rafael Juan González, who explained that "the activity stopped for two months at the request of the market vendors themselves, but now it returns with more strength and with 58 more stalls."
The market had 14 stalls until now and, according to the Consistory, the new ones "will be incorporated progressively, as their managers comply with all the conditions required for their installation."
For the capital's head of Tourism, "this activity is an attraction, especially for tourists arriving in the capital aboard a cruise ship." "Our intention is for cruise passengers to stay in the city as long as possible, visit our marina, stroll along the avenue, shop in our shops, enjoy our gastronomy and, of course, visit the market and enjoy shopping, which is good for the island's economy," says the mayor.
In the same vein, he emphasizes that Arrecife's "obligation" is to "provide alternatives for tourists arriving by boat, because we want them to return." On the other hand, Rafael Juan González also recalled that to the 41 stalls that until now were installed in the Tourist and Artisan Market that takes place every Saturday in Calle Real and surroundings, 20 new authorizations are added.
The maximum duration of the authorizations regulated in this call will be 8 years.
