Los Dolores Restaurant was the setting last Friday for the constitution of the new Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition (CC) in the municipality of Tinajo, which will once again have the current mayor, Jesús Machín, as its president, and which will be made up of a total of 50 people, making it the most representative on the Island. Likewise, three vice-presidents and a total of ten secretaries were elected.
Members with great training
The newly appointed president of the Local Committee and first mayor of the Tinajo City Council, Jesús Machín, highlighted the great training of all the members of the Local Board as well as the youth and desire to work for the municipality that they all treasure. In this sense, he also valued the fact that an important part of the members are women, something that Machín is proud of, who considers that the one he heads is a project that exudes enthusiasm, and "is an important boost for the Canarian Coalition."
"All the members are perfectly aware of the needs of the municipality and the Island in general, and we will try to ensure that everyone feels part of the CC project and can contribute their ideas and suggestions for the benefit of the inhabitants," concluded Jesús Machín.
After the election of the members of the new Local Committee, a party was held in which sympathizers and residents of the town also participated, which, according to some attendees, lasted until the early hours of the morning.
Town linked to the primary sector
During his election speech, Machín expressed his desire for the municipality to maintain its own identity and that have always characterized it, those that project it to the outside as an eminently livestock, agricultural and fishing town, but being aware that the new generations of the municipality are orienting their training to the service sector and that surely in the coming years this activity will acquire a greater specific weight.
In this sense, in Machín's words, the objective is to preserve the quality of life that living in a town implies, but with the services that any capital has. In addition, Jesús Machín hopes that Tinajo can also benefit from the economy generated by tourism, which visits the municipality throughout the year.
Municipal agricultural market
In this sense, according to the mayor, the implementation of the municipal agricultural market is essential, for which the Ministry of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands will allocate an important item so that it can start operating soon. Despite this, in order for it to be fruitful for farmers, Machín demands an effort from the Cabildo of Lanzarote so that the parking lot that is being claimed for the Montaña de Fuego can finally be built in the municipality, specifically in Los Dolores.
In this way, Machín proposes an alternative route for visitors, so that they begin their journey in the hermitage itself, where they would be told the story of how the Virgin was able to stop the river of lava that was threateningly heading towards the town, and subsequently begin a bus journey to Timanfaya. In this sense, it would be a very important boost for the primary sector of the municipality the fact that 1,000 or 1,500 people a day could acquire products in that farmer's market that will be located in Los Dolores. "In this way we could give way to all the wine that is produced in the municipality, to the cheeses, to the crafts, to the pastries...", Machín listed.
