The Club Excelencia en Gestión has awarded the European Excellence Seal 300+ to the Management of Sanitary Services of the Lanzarote Health Area, which depends on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands. With this, it advances in the continuous improvement of its processes through the model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), a benchmark for quality in the European Union.
The EFQM European Excellence Seal is "a recognition of a way of doing things well, a work culture based on its model, the brand that recognizes the excellent management of organizations and thus reinforces the trust of customers and suppliers," they point out from the ministry.
The Management of Sanitary Services of Lanzarote began the implementation of the European Excellence EFQM Model in 2008, obtaining in 2009 the Commitment to European Excellence Seal 200+; in 2011 it began the self-assessment process again, obtaining the Excellence Seal 300+ in May 2012. This is, therefore, the third self-assessment.
The manager of the island's Sanitary Services, José Luis Aparicio, has indicated the intention to continue renewing this quality seal every two years. He also pointed out that "this action demonstrates that we continue with the clear commitment to continue exercising optimal management of the organization based on the values of excellence".
The commitment to quality is also demonstrated by the certification according to the ISO 9001-2008 Standard of the Pharmacy and Rehabilitation Services, and by obtaining the Center Committed to Excellence in Care, a program coordinated by the Health Care Research Unit of the Carlos III Health Institute (Investen-iscii) and the Spanish collaborating center of the Joanna Brigdgs Institute for evidence-based health care.
It is also worth mentioning the start of the work to obtain the iHAN accreditation (Initiative for the Humanization of Birth Assistance and Breastfeeding), obtaining the 1D Certificate, which certifies the registration, its intention and the commitment to apply the initiative in the centers dependent on Primary and Specialized Care.
